For Tradecopia to copy trades, four conditions must be true at the same time. If any one of these is not met, replication will not occur — either entirely or for the affected accounts.
You might need this article if:
Trades aren't copying and you want to check what Tradecopia requires to replicate
Replication stopped and you want to work through a checklist of what might be missing
You want to understand what must be active and in place before trades will copy
Condition | What must be true |
1. Application state | Tradecopia is running and connected |
2. Broker connections | Every account's connection is active and established |
3. Copy group configuration | A group exists with the correct leader, followers, and replication enabled |
4. Instrument compatibility | The traded instrument is available on the follower's broker |
Condition 1 — Application state
Tradecopia must be running on your computer and connected to the internet. It is a local desktop application — there is no background service or cloud fallback.
If the app is closed, your computer goes to sleep, or the session drops, replication stops entirely until the app is active and reconnected.
Replication cannot occur retroactively. Any trades placed while the app was offline are permanently missed.
What to check:
- The app is open and not minimised to a crashed or frozen state
- The app shows an active session — not a reconnecting or loading state
- Your computer has not gone to sleep or had its network adapter suspended
Pro+ Lite and Pro+ users: Condition 1 does not apply to you. On cloud plans, Tradecopia runs continuously on the cloud regardless of whether your device is open. Conditions 2, 3, and 4 still apply.
For the Condition 1 failure scenario, see Why didn't Tradecopia copy my trades when the app was offline?.
Condition 2 — Broker connections
Every account involved in replication — your leader and all followers — must have an active, established broker connection in Tradecopia.
A connection that has been added but is not currently connected will prevent replication for every account under that connection. A failed or disconnected connection affects all accounts grouped under it simultaneously.
What to check:
- All connections are added and show as active — not merely configured
- Credentials are valid and not expired
- The broker platform is reachable and not undergoing maintenance
- No firewall or network policy is blocking the connection
Failure pattern: If a connection goes down mid-session, all followers on that connection stop receiving trades at the same moment. This is a reliable signal that the cause is at the connection level rather than an individual account or group setting.
For connection troubleshooting, see Broker connection troubleshooting. For the specific scenario of followers stopping mid-session, see Why are some follower accounts not receiving trades?.
Condition 3 — Copy group configuration
A copy group must exist that explicitly links your leader account to your follower accounts. Having active broker connections alone is not sufficient — accounts must be assigned to a group for replication to occur.
Within the group, verify:
- The correct account is designated as the leader
- All intended follower accounts are assigned to the group
- Replication is enabled at the group level
- Replication is enabled for each individual follower within the group
- No follower has been halted by a Position Reconciler breach, which disables replication for that follower
Condition 4 — Instrument compatibility
The instrument being traded on your leader must be available and active on your follower's broker. If the instrument is unavailable or unrecognised on the follower side, the replication attempt will fail silently for that follower.
This becomes particularly relevant during:
- Futures contract rollovers — when the active contract changes and leader and follower are on different contract cycles
- Prop firm account restrictions — some prop firm accounts limit the instruments that can be traded
- New instrument launches — an instrument active on one broker may not yet be available on another
Symptom guide — which condition is failing
Use this table to narrow down the cause based on what you are experiencing:
What you are experiencing | Most likely condition failing |
No followers receiving any trades | App offline (Cond. 1), group replication disabled (Cond. 3), or leader connection down (Cond. 2) |
Some followers receiving trades, others not | Specific follower connection down (Cond. 2), per-follower replication disabled (Cond. 3), or broker-side rejection (Cond. 4) |
All followers missing one specific trade | Limit order not filled on leader, instrument unavailable (Cond. 4), or contract rollover mismatch (Cond. 4) |
Intermittent replication gaps | Connection instability (Cond. 2) — check your connection logs |
Quick diagnostic checklist
Before reaching out, verify all four conditions are met:
App is open, active, and not in a reconnecting state
Leader broker connection shows active in Tradecopia
All follower broker connections show active in Tradecopia
A copy group exists with the correct leader and follower assignments
Group-level replication is enabled
Per-follower replication is enabled for each follower
No follower is halted due to a Position Reconciler breach
The traded instrument is available on all follower brokers
Current date is not within a futures contract rollover window
