Why did my follower accounts miss trades that were placed on the leader?

Tradecopia can only replicate trades it observes in real time. If the app was offline when a trade was placed, that trade is permanently missed and cannot be recovered.

Tradecopia replicates trades by listening to live events from your broker in real time. If the app was not running and connected at the moment a trade was placed on the leader account, that trade was not seen and cannot be replicated retroactively.

You might be experiencing this if:

  • Followers missed trades that were placed on the leader while the app was closed or restarting

  • You came back to your desk and some trades didn't copy across

  • The leader has more trades in its history than the followers received

Why missed trades cannot be recovered

Tradecopia does not poll your broker for past orders or reconcile its history against the broker's trade log. It captures events as they happen — a fill event on the leader triggers replication to all followers. If Tradecopia was offline when that event occurred, no record of it exists in the replication engine, and there is no mechanism to replay it after the fact.

If followers missed a trade because the app was offline, the follower positions must be manually reconciled.

Common reasons the app was not capturing trades

Update applied during an active session — Tradecopia showed an update prompt and you clicked to apply it while trading was in progress. Updates do not run automatically — but if you click the update button during an active session, the app restarts and the broker connection must re-establish. Any trades placed on the leader during that restart window were missed. Apply updates before market open or after market close, not during an active session.

App closed before the session started — Tradecopia was not running when the leader account began trading. P&L visible after opening the app does not mean replication was active earlier in the session.

Session started before app was opened — Trades were placed via the broker platform directly before Tradecopia was launched. The app cannot retroactively replicate trades placed while it was not running.

App appeared open but was still reconnecting — The Tradecopia window was visible but the broker connection had not yet re-established after a restart. The connection indicator in the app shows when the broker link is active — trades placed before the green connected status appears are not captured.

Note: These scenarios apply to Pro desktop. On Pro+ Lite and Pro+, the copier runs on Tradecopia's infrastructure — it cannot be closed by you, and cloud updates are only deployed outside of market hours so your session will never be interrupted by an update. If you are on a cloud plan and follower trades are being missed, contact the Tradecopia support team — this indicates a server-side connection issue rather than a local app state problem.

Why P&L appearing does not mean the app was live

After reconnecting, Tradecopia syncs daily P&L directly from the broker. P&L from the leader account will appear even if Tradecopia was offline during those trades.

This is one of the most common sources of confusion. P&L sync on login is not evidence that replication was active during the session. The only reliable indicator is the broker connection status shown in the app at the time trades were placed.

What to check

  1. Check the connection status at the time of the missed trade. Was Tradecopia showing a green connected status for the relevant broker when the leader placed the trade? If not, the app was not capturing events at that moment

  2. Check whether an update was applied during the session. If you clicked the update button while trading, confirm the broker connection re-established fully before trading resumed

  3. Check the app launch time. If Tradecopia was opened after the leader had already placed trades, those earlier trades would not have been captured

If you cannot identify the cause, contact the Tradecopia support team with the affected account, broker, and the approximate time the missed trade was placed — we can check the session log.

How to prevent this

  • Always confirm Tradecopia shows an active broker connection before placing any trades on the leader account

  • Do not click the update button during an active trading session — updates require the app to restart and the broker connection to re-establish. Apply updates before market open or after market close

  • After any restart, wait for the broker connection indicator to show connected before resuming trading
