How to add a broker connection to Tradecopia

Quick setup steps for connecting Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, and TopStepX accounts to Tradecopia, with links to full setup guides.

This article walks through the quick setup steps for each of the four supported brokers — Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Rithmic, and TopStepX. For detailed guides including troubleshooting, follow the link at the end of each section.

Tradovate

Tradovate uses OAuth authentication. A browser popup opens the Tradovate login page — you authenticate there and authorisation is returned to Tradecopia.

  1. Go to Connections and click + Add Connection

  2. Select Tradovate

  3. Select Live Account or Demo Account — most prop firm accounts are demo accounts at the broker level; select Demo Account if unsure

  4. Log in with your Tradovate username and password when the browser popup appears

  5. Authorise the connection on the Tradovate page

  6. Confirm the connection shows Connected in Tradecopia

A single Tradovate connection links all accounts under the same prop firm organisation.

NinjaTrader

NinjaTrader accounts are Tradovate accounts accessed through the NinjaTrader platform. The connection flow is identical.

  1. Go to Connections and click + Add Connection

  2. Select NinjaTrader

  3. Select Live Account or Demo Account

  4. Log in with your Tradovate username and password when the browser popup appears

  5. Authorise the connection on the Tradovate page

  6. Confirm the connection shows Connected in Tradecopia

Rithmic

Rithmic requires a firm-specific system name and the correct gateway.

  1. Go to Connections and click + Add Connection

  2. Select Rithmic

  3. Enter your System Name — confirm this with your prop firm before connecting; each firm has a specific name assigned by Rithmic

  4. Set the Gateway to Chicago Area (recommended for all users)

  5. Enter your Rithmic username and password as provided by your prop firm

  6. Click Connect and confirm the connection shows Connected

TopStepX

TopStepX requires an API key subscription before connecting. Complete the following steps in order.

Step 1 — Set up your TopStepX API access

  1. Log in to your TopStepX account at topstepx.com

  2. Purchase or activate an API access subscription — $29/month, or $14.50/month with code topstep

  3. Open the trading platform you want to link and confirm you are logged in to the correct account

Step 2 — Generate an API key

  1. In your trading platform, go to Settings → API → Link Account and authorise the connection

  2. Go to Settings and create a new API key for Tradecopia access

  3. Copy the API key manually — highlight and copy

Step 3 — Add the connection in Tradecopia

  1. Go to Connections and click + Add Connection

  2. Select TopStepX

  3. Select your prop firm, enter your username, and paste the API key

  4. Click Connect and confirm the connection shows Connected
