Why is my Rithmic connection failing?

Step-by-step troubleshooting for Rithmic connection failures in Tradecopia — system name, gateway, credentials, and data feed compatibility.

Your Rithmic connection is failing — work through the steps below in order. The most common cause is an incorrect system name, so start there even if you think the issue is elsewhere.

You might be experiencing this if:

  • Your Rithmic connection fails every time you try to connect in Tradecopia

  • You're getting a credentials rejected or authentication error on Rithmic

  • Rithmic was connecting before but now won't connect

  • You can't get your prop firm's Rithmic account to appear in Tradecopia

Step 1 — Check your system name

What causes this
Each prop firm is assigned a specific Rithmic system name. Using the wrong one causes an immediate connection refusal. This is the most common cause of Rithmic connection failures.

How to fix it

  1. Confirm your system name with your prop firm directly — ask them exactly which Rithmic system name you should use

  2. Check the system name reference table in How to connect your Rithmic account to Tradecopia — your firm may already be listed

  3. Update the System field in Tradecopia with the confirmed name and retry

If your firm cannot advise a system name, try these generic names in order until one connects:

  1. Rithmic 01

  2. Rithmic 04 Colo

  3. Rithmic Test

  4. Rithmic Paper Trading

Step 2 — Check the gateway

What causes this
Selecting a gateway other than Chicago Area can cause connection timeouts.

How to fix it
Set the Gateway to Chicago Area and retry. This is the correct gateway for all users regardless of firm or location. Do not use other gateways unless explicitly advised by your prop firm.

Step 3 — Check your credentials

What causes this
Rithmic credentials are separate from your prop firm portal login. Entering portal credentials instead of Rithmic credentials will cause a credential rejection error.

How to fix it
Confirm with your prop firm that you are using the correct Rithmic username and password — these are different from the login you use to access your prop firm's website or dashboard. Re-enter the correct credentials and retry.

Step 4 — Confirm your account uses Rithmic data feed

What causes this
Tradecopia supports Rithmic data feed only. Some trading platforms — such as Quantower — support both Rithmic and DXFeed accounts. If you are connecting a DXFeed-issued account, it cannot be connected to Tradecopia regardless of which platform you access it through.

How to fix it

Confirm with your prop firm whether your account is Rithmic-issued or DXFeed-issued.

  • If Rithmic-issued — continue troubleshooting with Steps 1–3

  • If DXFeed-issued — the account is not compatible with Tradecopia. DXFeed accounts cannot be connected regardless of platform

MFFU accounts are a known case — MFFU accounts accessed via Quantower use DXFeed, not Rithmic, and cannot be connected to Tradecopia.
