How to reinstall Tradecopia or do a clean reset

How to do a standard reinstall or clean reset on Windows and macOS when Tradecopia won't launch or is behaving abnormally.

This article applies to Tradecopia Pro (desktop) only. Pro+ Lite and Pro+ users access Tradecopia through a web browser. There is no desktop app to reinstall. If you are on Pro+ Lite or Pro+ and the app is not responding, contact the Tradecopia support team.

When Tradecopia is not launching, behaving abnormally, or showing features as missing, the cause is almost always corrupted or outdated local app state. A standard reinstall resolves most cases. A clean reset is needed when local state is persistently corrupted.

You might be experiencing this if:

  • Tradecopia won't open, crashes on launch, or hangs on the loading screen

  • You're on a Pro plan but Risk Management, Analytics, or other advanced pages aren't showing

  • Tradecopia is behaving inconsistently or abnormally after an update

  • Tradecopia froze or locked up on launch after an update

  • Some of your accounts are missing from the Risk Management tab after you connected or added them

  • You want to go back to a previous version after an update

  • You're seeing persistent ghost or phantom orders placed repeatedly over time, not just once or twice

If your ghost orders are intermittent rather than a consistent pattern → this is not a reinstall case. See Why are there duplicate orders or oversized positions on my follower accounts? or Why didn't my trade execute as expected? instead.

If you are on macOS and seeing a "damaged" or "cannot be opened" error when launching Tradecopia → this is a Gatekeeper or quarantine issue, not a corrupted install. A standard reinstall will not fix it. See Why won't Tradecopia open on macOS, and how do I fix it? for the correct resolution.

Which option to use

Symptom

Recommended fix

App won't launch, crashes on open, or hangs at startup

Standard reinstall first; clean reset if it persists

Pro plan user not seeing Risk Management, Analytics, or other advanced pages

Standard reinstall

App behavior is consistently abnormal after an update

Standard reinstall first; clean reset if it persists

Tradecopia froze or locked up on launch

Restart your computer and relaunch; on macOS, update macOS to the latest version and install the latest build

Accounts missing from the Risk Management tab after connecting or adding them

Restart Tradecopia so the new accounts sync

Persistent ghost or phantom orders — a repeated pattern across sessions

Clean reset

Frozen or locked up on launch is usually your computer's environment rather than the app itself, often too much running at once. Close Tradecopia, restart your computer, and open it again. On macOS, this can also follow a macOS update: update macOS to the latest version and install the latest Tradecopia build, and it will launch normally.

Accounts missing from Risk Management usually means a newly connected or newly added account has not synced yet. Restart Tradecopia and the accounts appear under the Risk Management tab. If a Distance to Drawdown value looks wrong rather than an account being missing, see Why is my Distance to Drawdown showing the wrong value, and how do I fix it?.

Always try the standard reinstall first. It is faster, preserves your settings, and resolves the majority of issues. Only escalate to a clean reset if the standard reinstall does not fix the problem.

Standard reinstall

A standard reinstall updates the app in place without wiping any of your local settings or data. You do not need to uninstall Tradecopia first.

  1. Close Tradecopia completely

  2. Download the latest installer for your operating system (see download options below)

  3. Run the downloaded installer over the existing installation

  4. Launch Tradecopia and log in again

If the issue persists after a standard reinstall, proceed to the clean reset steps for your operating system below.

Download options

Option A — Tradecopia portal (recommended)
Log into your Tradecopia account at the Tradecopia portal and navigate to the Download page. This always serves the latest version linked to your account.

Option B — Direct download

Going back to a previous version

We recommend staying on the latest version. New builds are not only new features. They include important bug fixes and patches, and each release is tested before it ships.

If you have a specific reason to go back to a previous version for a short time, contact the Tradecopia support team and we will provide the build you need. Rolling back is only possible for a short window after a release, because older versions stop working once they can no longer authenticate. Treat it as a temporary measure, not a long-term option.

Clean reset — macOS

A clean reset removes all local app data and gives you a completely fresh install. Use this when a standard reinstall has not resolved the issue.

Step 1 — Close Tradecopia
Make sure Tradecopia is fully closed before continuing.

Step 2 — Remove app data
Open Terminal (Finder → Applications → Utilities → Terminal) and run the following commands, pressing Enter after each:

rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Containers/com.tradecopia.app"
rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Tradecopia"

This removes all Tradecopia app data from both storage locations.

Step 3 — Reinstall Tradecopia
1. Download the latest macOS build using one of the options above
2. Open the .dmg file and drag Tradecopia to Applications
3. Launch Tradecopia and log in again

Your installation is now fully reset.

Clean reset — Windows

Step 1 — Close Tradecopia
Make sure Tradecopia is fully closed before continuing.

Step 2 — Remove app data

Press Win + R to open the Run dialog. Paste the following and press Enter:

%APPDATA%\Tradecopia\

If this does not open a folder, try pasting the following directly into the File Explorer address bar instead:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Tradecopia\

A folder named Tradecopia will open. Delete the entire Tradecopia folder.

Step 3 — Reinstall Tradecopia
1. Download the latest installer for your Windows architecture using one of the options above
2. Run the installer
3. Launch Tradecopia and log in again

Your installation is now fully reset.

If the issue continues after a clean reset

If Tradecopia is still not working after a clean reset, contact the Tradecopia support team. Share your operating system, the exact symptom you're seeing, and whether the problem appeared after a specific update or event, and we can investigate from there.
