Why is my Distance to Drawdown showing the wrong value, and how do I fix it?

Why the Distance to Drawdown can show a wrong value, and how to correct it yourself in the drawdown settings.

If the Distance to Drawdown shown for one of your accounts looks wrong, you can correct it yourself. The value is calculated from data reported by your broker, which is not always current, and Tradecopia lets you set it manually.

You might be experiencing this if:

  • The Distance to Drawdown on an account looks wrong or out of date

  • Your account's drawdown value does not match what your prop firm shows

  • The distance stopped updating or looks off during an evaluation, or while building buffer on a funded account

What causes this

The Distance to Drawdown is calculated from data reported by your broker. That data is not always accurate or current, and how up to date it is depends on the broker. This is most noticeable during an evaluation, or while you are building the buffer on a funded account, where the reported figures can drift from your real distance to your drawdown limit.

This is the Distance to Drawdown value shown for monitoring. It is separate from the trailing drawdown risk parameter, which is a different feature and is not yet active. See How do I configure risk management parameters?.

How to correct it

Tradecopia lets you set the value yourself:

  1. Click the Distance to Drawdown value that is not accurate. A settings window opens.

  2. Set the Max loss to the correct amount for the account. Tradecopia uses your max loss to calculate the Distance to Drawdown, so entering the correct max loss corrects the distance.

  3. Choose the Drawdown type that matches your account's rule: end of day, trailing, or static.

  4. Choose the Account type: funded, evaluation, or live. Drawdown behaves differently for each, based on the target or level that applies.

  5. Save your changes. The Distance to Drawdown recalculates from the values you entered.

Lock the floor at a fixed level: if you want the floor to stay at a set level rather than move, turn on the Lock the floor at a fixed level toggle and enter the fixed level. The floor then stays locked at that level.

If this does not resolve the issue

If the value is still wrong after you set it, or you are not sure what your correct max loss or drawdown type should be, contact the Tradecopia support team with your account and prop firm details, and we will help you set it correctly.
